Garbage Collection as an OS Activity

[under construction]
Starting with a scheme for concurrent garbage collection (GC) where the collector and mutator are separate processes, this research is investigating how GC can be treated as a part of the OS's resource control armoury.

File-in-File Embedding

The FIFE tool enables the content of one file to be textually inserted into another at a place where the second contains (a form of) the name of the first. The file embedding can be nested to arbitrary depth, and the embeddings can also be parameterised, in the sense that that certain well-known references in the embedded file are substituted by strings specified at the "point of call" in the embedding file.
